Personality: Shy, quiet, and gentle. She has faith in her friends, but is very lonely when not with them. Has little confidence in herself. As Dark Mercury, she is serious and somewhat devious, yet still retains faint traces of her kind nature.

A very smart girl who goes to Usagi's school. She is somewhat an outcast amongst the other students, she she eats lunch by herself on the roof. Usagi tries to become friends with her after they discover she is Sailor Mercury, but Ami misunderstands and thinks that it is the only reason she wants to have anything to do with her and becomes upset. She finally sees the truth and becomes good friends with Usagi and becomes a little more outgoing in some ways, though still very softspoken.
When all the Scouts start going their seperate ways and doind their own things, she remains at the base with Luna, certain that if she keeps waiting, they will all be together like before. But their neglecting to consider her feelings still takes its toll on her and Kunzite easilly warps her thinking. She joins him, transforming into Dark Mercury and marking the Scouts as her enemies. Claiming she does not serve neither Beryl or Kunzite, she is much stronger and independant in this form. She shows a hint of her old self when she acts compassionately towards Nephrite. She returns to normal completely after nearly killing Usagi.
When Nephrite becomes human later in the series, the two do not recognize eachother, but seem to be interested in each other.
She is saddened when forced to fight Usagias Princess Serenity in order to stop her from destroying everything, and ultimately fails. She is brought back along with everyone else when Usagi and Mamoru restore the world, but remembers nothing about Usagi or her life as a Scout. She regains her memories when Usagi returns to Earth and has a happy reunion with her and the other girls.
In the Special Act, she is studying abroad in the US to become a doctor. She even proves very helpful while assisting a skilled doctor in an operation. But the minute Usagi is in danger, she returns to Japan and joins in one last battle for the future of the planet. She then stays for Usagi's wedding to Mamoru. Sometime afterwards, she becomes a successful pediatrician.
